Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Accountant to join their established and growing team in North Ayrshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced full or a part Qualified Accountant or an experienced Accounts Clerk with a strong background in public practice who is looking to develop their career within a professional and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of clients preparing accounts supporting tax compliance and providing a high standard of professional service.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders partnerships and limited companies.
Produce periodic and year-end accounts accurately and within agreed deadlines.
Prepare management accounts where required.
Assist with personal and corporation tax computations and submissions.
Liaise directly with clients regarding financial information and queries.
Prepare VAT returns and maintain accurate financial records.
Ensure compliance with current accounting standards and HMRC requirements.
Support the preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation.
Maintain accurate working papers and client files.
Utilise cloud-based accounting software to prepare and review financial information.
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients.
Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and accounting practices.
Provide support to colleagues across the practice as required.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
Qualified Accountant (ACA ACCA or equivalent) or
Part-qualified Accountant with significant practice experience.
Previous experience working within an accountancy/public practice environment.
Strong knowledge of preparing accounts for a variety of business types.
Experience using Xero accounting software.
Excellent understanding of account preparation procedures.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple client deadlines.
Strong communication and client relationship skills.
Confident using Microsoft Office particularly Excel.
Desirable
Personal and Corporation Tax knowledge.
Experience using additional cloud accounting packages.
Payroll experience (advantageous but not essential).
Knowledge of Making Tax Digital requirements.
