    About the Role

  • Our client, a well established and growing utility services provider based in South Lanarkshire, is seeking an experienced and motivated Multi Utility Designer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong understanding of utility design, estimating, and customer engagement to play a key role in delivering high quality utility solutions across a range of projects.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Assess incoming enquiries to determine suitability for tender opportunities.
  • Review project enquiries to establish the scope of works required.
  • Develop utility design solutions in compliance with relevant specifications and industry standards, including NERS, GIRS, and WIRS requirements.
  • Provide alternative design and engineering solutions where appropriate to deliver cost effective outcomes.
  • Prepare and price tenders accurately.
  • Compile and submit tender documentation within required timescales.
  • Liaise with adopting asset owners including DNOs, IDNOs, IGTs, and other utility providers.
  • Work closely with clients to ensure project requirements and expectations are fully understood and achieved.
  • Coordinate with internal construction teams to support successful project delivery.
  • Attend site visits, design meetings, and client meetings as required.

    Skills and Experience

    The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience within a multi utility design, estimating, or project costing environment.
  • Good knowledge of NERS, GIRS, and WIRS accreditation requirements.
  • Understanding of multi utility and civil engineering works.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand utility plans and drawings.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including experience making outbound calls and building client relationships.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience using CRM systems to monitor and track project progress.
  • Willingness to travel and attend customer meetings to discuss business requirements.
  • Full UK driving licence.
