Vacancy Description: Overview: We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tuner / Loom Technician to support the efficient operation of weaving machinery within a textile manufacturing environment. This role focuses on the setup, adjustment, maintenance and repair of weaving equipment, ensuring machines operate efficiently while maintaining high standards of fabric quality and production output. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimising machine performance, reducing downtime, and supporting production teams in achieving operational targets.

Key Responsibilities: Machine Setup & Adjustment

  • Prepare and tune weaving machines in line with production schedules and product specifications
  • Set up and adjust rapier weaving machines (Dornier and Picanol) including electronic dobby and jacquard systems
  • Ensure looms are configured to achieve required quality and efficiency standards Maintenance & Repair
  • Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance on weaving equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs efficiently
  • Replace worn or defective components as required
  • Minimise machine downtime through proactive maintenance and troubleshooting Quality Control
  • Monitor fabric quality during production runs
  • Identify and resolve issues that may cause defects
  • Adjust machine settings to maintain consistent product standards
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure quality targets are met Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of machine settings, maintenance activity and performance issues
  • Report recurring technical issues and support continuous improvement initiatives Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures
  • Ensure machinery is operated and maintained safely during all tuning and repair activities Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Loom Technician, Tuner, or Textile Machinery Technician
  • Strong understanding of weaving machinery and textile production processes
  • Experience working with rapier looms (Dornier / Picanol) preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings and specifications
  • Excellent mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a production team
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Flexibility to support breakdowns or additional production requirements when needed
