  • Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00 (1 hour unpaid lunch)
  • Salary: 30000 per annum

    Overview: We are currently recruiting for an experienced Procurement Buyer to join our clients team based in East Ayrshire. This is an initial six-month position with a strong opportunity for the role to continue on an ongoing basis for the right candidate.

    This role is ideally suited to a commercially aware and detail-focused individual with previous buying or procurement experience. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting purchasing activities ensuring materials and services are sourced efficiently cost effectively and in line with business requirements. Strong numerical and analytical skills are essential with the ability to interpret data manage costs and support informed purchasing decisions.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing day-to-day procurement and purchasing activities
  • Sourcing materials goods and services in line with operational requirements
  • Obtaining and evaluating supplier quotations
  • Negotiating pricing delivery schedules and terms where appropriate
  • Raising and managing purchase orders
  • Monitoring stock levels and coordinating with internal departments
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
  • Ensuring accurate pricing and cost control across purchases
  • Supporting cost analysis and reporting activities
  • Maintaining accurate procurement records and documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with internal purchasing procedures and policies

    Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a Buyer / Procurement / Purchasing role
  • Strong mathematical and arithmetic ability with confidence working with figures and pricing data
  • Relevant numerical or business-related qualification desirable
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem-solving
