Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Managing Director to lead and growing construction / civil engineering business through its next phase of strategic development. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for setting direction driving performance strengthening client relationships and embedding a culture of integrity accountability and excellence throughout the organisation. The successful candidate will bring 10 to 15 years of senior leadership experience a strong operational or project management background and the vision to deliver sustainable growth while maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide clear inspirational leadership to the executive and senior management teams.
  • Define and implement the companys long-term vision strategic objectives and growth plans.
  • Foster a high-performance culture aligned with the companys ethos and values. Commercial & Financial Oversight
  • Maintain full accountability for company performance including turnover profitability cash flow and risk management.
  • Lead strategic planning budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks while maximising opportunities for growth and diversification. Operational Excellence
  • Ensure best-in-class delivery across all construction and civil engineering operations.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of construction methodologies contract administration regulatory requirements and operational best practice.
  • Drive continuous improvement across safety quality programme and cost control. Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a senior ambassador for the business with clients stakeholders and partners.
  • Build trust through credibility integrity and technical knowledge.
  • Lead major client negotiations and support bid strategy for key projects.

    Growth & Development

  • Identify new market opportunities and strengthen existing client relationships.
  • Drive sustainable business growth while protecting reputation and values.
  • Mentor and develop senior leaders ensuring succession planning and long-term organisational strength.

    About You: You will be a proven senior leader within construction or civil engineering likely coming from a Tier 1 contractor or established business. This role is ideal for a Managing Director Operations Director Project Director or Senior Project Manager seeking a more influential and strategic leadership position.

    Essential Requirements:

  • 10 to 15 years senior management experience within construction / civil engineering.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with experience managing budgets risk and strategic planning.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction contracts legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead executive teams and influence at board and client level.
  • A clear drive for growth innovation and continuous improvement.
